Career

Early career

Bru played youth football at CS Brétigny, INF Clairefontaine, and Stade Rennais F.C.

Professional career

He began his professional career in France at Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais F.C. in 2004, the same team he had been with since 2001. After making only 2 senior appearances, he moved on to Ligue 2 side FC Istres in 2006, where he would make 23 senior appearances, scoring once.[1] In 2008, he went to play for AEP Paphos FC in the Cypriot First Division, making 20 senior appearances. Then, in 2009, he went to play for Portuguese side Académica de Coimbra in the Portuguese Liga, making only 4 senior appearances. On July 26, 2010, Bru signed a one year deal with Liga de Honra side U.D. Oliveirense.[2] He scored his first goal for U.D. Oliveirense in a 1-1 tie with S.C. Freamunde.[3] In August 2011, he signed with Moreirense FC, also of the Liga de Honra. He currently wears the jersey number 4. He scored his first goal, which turned out to be a game winner, for Moreirense in a 3 – 2 win over his former team, U.D. Oliveirense.[4]

International career

Bru has represented France in almost every youth team, but has never made an appearance for the senior team. In 2009, Bru told L'Express, a Mauritian newspaper, that he hopes to one day play for the Mauritius national football team,[5] since both of his parents were born in Mauritius. That dream became a reality when Mauritius head coach Akbar Patel called him in to the squad for 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.[6] He made his debut for the team in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Cameroon national football team. He was the lone scorer for Mauritius, converting a penalty. His second goal for Mauritius came on June 5, 2011, against DR Congo in another AFCON qualification match. This goal was also scored via penalty. In August 2011 he was called up by Mauritius for the 2011 Indian Ocean Island Games, and played in all of their matches, leading them to the final, where they lost to Seychelles on penalties. Bru has quickly established himself as a key member for Club M and has become a firm favourite among the supporters.
